*Please donate to to their care.* Yesterday, five little Chihuahuas landed in my backyard.They came from a home with more than a dozen dogs. They weren’t neglected. They were loved. But sometimes life gets bigger than our ability to manage it, and too many dogs became…well, too many.And someone asked for help.It would be easy to look at a situation like this and ask, “How did they let this happen?”But maybe the better question is, “How can we help?”So, we helped five. Right now, they are decompressing in my backyard, after a good bath, flea and tick treatment applied, and bellies full of food. Last night, they all kept their crates clean and were ready for breakfast—a bit of canned food which is my secret for making dogs love me when they first arrive. For today, their only job is to relax and figure out that they are in a safe place. Next comes the veterinary care.The dogs will need to be neutered, tested for heartworms and tick-borne diseases (even though they all lived inside), fecal check, and a few need treatment for cherry eye. Hobbes has a meet and greet next week but we are still taking applications. He has learned so much being in foster care. Most recently how to get up in the chair with the big kids!He loves sleeping in his crate and goes into it on his own when he gets sleepy at night. He now weighs 4.2 lbs!
