Ever since since I could crawl and walk animals had always been my point of attention. I was constantly crawling under porches, sheds, wood piles, you name it to rescue kittens and any other critter I could find that needed help. Fast forward 20 years later and not a single thing has changed. I’m always the first to pull over on a busy highway with a leash to grab that dog in the intersection. Although, that has gotten me in trouble before as I almost tried to rescue a coyote once.. Oops! It was dark outside, okay!
Animals have always been there for me when people were not so now I make it my goal in life to be there for these animals that don’t have voices for themselves. When I was 12 I worked in my neighbors boarding kennel and that’s when I started learning some in’s and out’s of dog behavior. That passion grew more and more. When I was 20 I got a job working at a local animal shelter and I worked there for almost 2 years and is where I met my first true love Izzy. A blue and white pit bull that was skin and bones riddled with terrible cage anxiety. After seeing potential adopter’s turn up their nose at this “Scary looking” pit bull and seeing this poor baby be in and out of the shelter I couldn’t take it anymore and on a whim one day took her home with me. She walked in the door of my boyfriend’s (now husband) apartment, crawled up on the couch and never saw the inside of the shelter again. It was that moment where my passion for pit bulls grew and I strive in my life to properly educate the public of what they fear and do not understand. I am proud to say Izzy alone has converted many anti pit bull people into avid pit bull lovers and I hope she continues to make a change in the life of others as she did mine.

The day I brought Izzy home from the shelter. Cuddling with Jase my husband.
Fast forward several years I now work at Animal Emergency and Critical Care of Lynchburg as a vet assistant with hopes of eventually enrolling into school to become a Licensed vet technician. Along my journey I acquired a wonderful husband, another sweet pittie mix named Spicy, two kitties Athena and Gary, a Ferret named Finli, a snake named Diglett and a Gecko named Bowie and we hope to expand and adopt another puppy soon as well.
Even though I don’t foster as much lately, I still love helping and promoting CVRR in all the ways that I can.
