As a kid, I begged and begged and begged my parents to bring an animal friend into our family. But we never had the room, the time, or the money. We lived in an apartment, and then a trailer. Animals were not a priority.
Now, I beg my husband to let me foster, transport, and help out at every opportunity. He’s keen on the helping out, and I’m wearing him down on the fostering. We have a home of our own with two beautiful little monster children, and our foster failure pitbull-mix, Chloe, whom we got from Laura (CVRR president) two years ago.
We have done some short term fostering outside of Chloe over the past few years (see the kitten pictures below), with breaks til I found a good allergy medicine. It shocks friends that I foster and have a dog who sheds hair all the time since I’m allergic to cats and dogs. But I am also allergic to pollen and dust and various medicines; you learn to make do and keep trying til you find something that works. And I’m glad we did. Chloe is the best happy loving addition to our insane life. The only thing I’d change is to add another dog or cat to the mix!
