My name is Joy and I have been volunteering since the summer of 2013. I started volunteering to fill community service hours required by my college for graduation. I saw a plea on facebook asking for cat volunteers and that is where I started off. A few months later, I fostered my first dog (who ultimately became my first foster failure – I adopted him!)
I fostered several more dogs that year. On January 1, 2014, Laura set me up on a date with my husband Robbie. Robbie had been volunteering with Laura for several years. On our first date, we took pictures of foster dogs.
8 months later, we took more foster pictures and Robbie proposed with a ring around one of the foster puppy’s necks. I said yes (with Laura in the bushes taking pictures!)
We married less than 4 months later and have been fostering together. We have four dogs: Luke, Mama, Lefty, and Dozer.
I (Joy) handle most of the website maintenance for CVRR. I also enjoy taking pictures of foster dogs! We’ve taken a short break from fostering to welcome our first child (Crosby) into the world, but we hope to have another foster in the next few months!
I’m very thankful for CVRR and proud to be a part of such a great organization of amazing volunteers. Robbie and I now live across the street from Laura and she is like family to us. The people I have met through rescue have truly become a second family to me. I’m so thankful to be a part of changing the lives of animals in our area!
